Why
should I
adopt a pet?
You should consider adopting a pet because it not only provides a loving home to an animal in need but also brings immense joy, companionship, and fulfillment to your life. By adopting from shelters or rescue organizations, you’re giving a second chance to an animal who may have faced hardships or abandonment, fostering a sense of compassion and empathy. Additionally, pets offer unconditional love, loyalty, and emotional support, improving mental and physical well-being through companionship, reduced stress, and increased physical activity. Adopting a pet is not only a rewarding experience for you but also saves a life and contributes positively to animal welfare.

Foster care is temporary care provided by responsible, compassionate and caring adult volunteers for Friends of Greenup Paws cats and dogs until they can be adopted to quality homes.
Providing a good home environment with proper socialization, exercise and loving care gives our foster animals a better chance of being placed more quickly.
We do not operate a shelter and rely on our foster homes for the success of our adoption program. Being able to place dogs and cats in foster homes allows us to increase the number of animals we can rescue.
F.O.G.P. will provide food, litter, crates, bedding, toys and other items as needed for the animal while it is in your care at home. F.O.G.P. will provide necessary veterinary care for foster animals and provide continued support and guidance to the foster family.
You will be expected to keep the foster animal safe and secure, provide food, water, love and respect, exercise enrichment, socialization, basic obedience and house training as needed to make the foster animal more adoptable and better suited to the right home. You will return the foster animal to F.O.G.P. when requested to do so; not promise the animal to anyone or imply that you have the authority to approve a potential adoption. F.O.G.P. retains ownership of all animals placed in foster care and will make all decisions regarding the adoption and placement of the animals fostered. The foster parent is responsible for transporting the foster animals to and from pet adoptions and vet appointments as required, unless other arrangements are made.
Foster services performed by an individual are voluntary and are without any express or implied promise of salary, compensation, or payment of any kind.
I have read and understand the questions and statements in this application. I certify that all the information contained in this application is true and correct and I understand the responsibilities I will undertake as a foster parent. I understand that although F.O.G.P. takes reasonable care to screen animals for foster care placement, it makes no guarantees relating to the animals’ health, behavior or actions. I understand that there exists a risk of injury or illness to my own or other animals, to me, my family and other persons who encounter any F.O.G.P. animals, as well as risk of personal property loss or damage. I understand that I receive foster care animals at my own risk and can decline to accept any animal for which F.O.G.P. has asked me to provide care. I acknowledge that F.O.G.P. is not responsible for any property damage or personal injury suffered by me, members of my household, including my own animals, or any third parties during a foster placement. I assume the risk of all injuries and/or property loss or damage in connection with my foster volunteer duties for F.O.G.P.. I assume liability to provide adequate controls to prevent such damage or injury. I indemnify and hold harmless F.O.G.P. from any negligence caused by me.
I hereby release F.O.G.P., its officers, directors, participants, volunteers and affiliates from all claims, actions, liabilities, damages and costs of any kind arising out of fostering, transportation or any other work or activity with any animals connected with F.O.G.P..
